Daddy raises butterflies from caterpillars. It's super cool to see them go through all the changes. He gets the caterpillars from the yard and puts them in a cage on the back patio. It protects them from all the birds and gives them more of a fighting chance of survival. He texted me today to release the butterflies while he was at work.

You know how in the movies, when they open the doors the birds/butterflies/flying creatures come rushing out in a mad dash for freedom? That doesn't happen in real life. At least not with these ones. I had to poke at them to fly away. And even then, they were reluctant! I guess they know they had a good thing going with the food delivery and protection. Eventually they all wandered off. Hopefully they avoided the birds that hang out in the trees across the street.

This guy hung out the longest.
