Miramare Castle & Park

We've been hearing about Trieste being one of the most underrated cities to visit in Italy. It's only an hour and a half from Aviano so we were able to make a daytrip out of it. Our first stop was Miramare Castle. It was built for Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian. I read some reviews that said it wasn't necessary to tour the castle, but I really wanted to learn the history so we were happy to pay the 4€ admission fee (each). The information panels had English translations so we didn't have to rent audio guides. I thought it was worth the money. The park is free and has a lot of paths to follow for a nice stroll. We only walked a short ways because we had other things in town that we wanted to see. We walked along the sea side of the castle on our way out. The views from the outside balconies were amazing, we got so many gorgeous pictures out there. I definitely recommend checking out the castle if you're in the area.
